Harakeke Early Learning Centre caters for tamariki between the ages of 0 – 6 years old. We have three dedicated age appropriate areas with three dedicated teams of educators who care for and coordinate day-to-day activities.

Te Rito (0 – 2 year olds)

It all starts with your baby where we cater for a small group of under two year olds. The philosophy is based on Te Rito, the heart of the harakeke. We aim to nurture our babies in a whanau environment.

Te Korari (2 – 3 1/2 year olds)

During the age of two to three the toddlers spend time getting specialised support and education to stimulate their learning progression. The Korari are the flower stalks of the harakeke.

Korimako (3 1/2 – 6 year olds)

This is where the preschool children really benefit from the quality child care resources that we provide. The children are really extended to increase their level of learning. The korimako is the bellbird that feeds on the harakeke.

We believe children learn and develop best when they are in a child-centred environment where they are happy and secure.

All three of our age-specific teaching areas allow our young minds to develop through creative & expressive play. Our trained educators plan a diverse day full of activities that our tamariki not only find fun, but engaging and educational. A typical day could include games, puzzles, arts & crafts as well as social playtime within our safe and fun play areas.

All of the facilities at Harakeke Early Learning Centre are fully compliant with the regulatory standards and criteria set out in the Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008. We also comply with the Licensing Criteria for Early Childhood Education and Care Services 2008. In fact, we think we go above and beyond!

Harakeke Early Learning Centre offers a free pickup service* for tamariki who qualify for free ECE funding or 20 hours per week. In accordance with ECE guidelines, we ensure that health & safety of our tamariki is a priority. We ensure appropriate adult-to-child ratios &  supervision inside the vehicle at all times. Children are always signed-in and signed-out to registered carers at handover.

Our driver holds a current, full New Zealand driver’s licence and the vehicle meets all NZ Transport Agency regulations.
